The Difference Between Cat6a and Cat6e Cables

Today let’s talk about the most common piece of computer hardware in everyday life — the network cable.
CAT6 refers to Category 6 cable. CAT6A is commonly known as Augmented Category 6 cable, or what we typically call 10-Gigabit Ethernet cable.
So what exactly is CAT6E? And which one is faster compared to CAT6A?

In reality, there is no speed difference between CAT6A and CAT6E cables; the two are nearly identical in design and performance. Both types of cable are engineered to support 10Gbps transmission speeds, with a bandwidth frequency up to 500MHz. So when it comes to which is faster, the answer is that their speeds are the same.

However, when it comes to transmission distance, CAT6A demonstrates its advantage. CAT6A cable is designed for long-distance runs and can maintain a 10Gbps speed up to 100 meters. In contrast, while CAT6E cable can also support 10Gbps speeds, its transmission speed will degrade beyond 55 meters.
