Oracle installation hangs at the Perform Prerequisite Checks environment verification step, as shown below:
Cause: The /etc/security directory has no access permissions. Granting temporary permissions will fix it.
chmod -R 755 /etc/security
After installation, you can tighten the permissions back down:
chmod -R 600 /etc/security
